With summer fast approaching, now is the perfect time to change up your decor for the new season. I don’t know about you but summer could not come faster for me. I spent almost the entirety of winter couped up in my bedroom so it’s about high time I go out to enjoy some fresh air.
Usually, I’m not one who likes the outdoors very much but, with a beautifully decorated front porch, I will gladly stay outside all day long. Staying out on the porch during summer makes you feel so calm and peaceful. And if you don’t like the outdoors very much either, these porch decor ideas are sure to change your mind.
I’ve garnered 25 of the most gorgeous summer front porch ideas you will fall in love with. Most of these porches are very bright and colorful ( staying on theme with summer ), but for those of you who don’t like a lot of color, I’ve also included a few neutral and subtle ideas as well.
If you’re looking to update your decor for the upcoming season, hopefully, these ideas will give you some inspiration!
Summer Front Porch Ideas
1. Simple Porch Idea
If you don’t like really bright colors and just want to keep it simple and subtle, this porch design idea is for you. The decor is very minimal and mostly neutral. You can keep this porch all year long and it will look amazing every season of the year.
Include a couple of potted plants on either side of the door, floor lanterns, and a beautiful wreath to bring the look together.
2. Ceiling Plants
This is quite literally my favorite summer porch on this list. It’s just so bright and cheery and looks incredible. Plus, those hanging plants really catch your eye and are a great way to incorporate more nature to your decor.
3. Potted Flowers
I love adding potted flowers outside. You can change them up whenever you want without much effort and they look ridiculously amazing. Potted flowers are also great because they add a pop of color to your entrance and create visual interest.
Just place a bouquet of flowers of your choosing in a basket and place them near your front door. This idea works for even the smallest of porches so definitely try this out.
4. Add Curtains
I know what you’re thinking. Curtains? Outdoors? Yes to both! Not only do they look great in any space you hang them, but they are also a great way to give yourself some shade and protection from the scorching hot sun and bugs flying around.
My number one tip when hanging curtains in any space is to hang them up about 2-4 inches above the actual frame. This will make the room feel a lot bigger and more spacious than it really is.
5. Potted Plants
Similar to potted flowers, potted plants help brighten up the space and make it feel much more welcoming. You can buy real or faux plants to place inside the planters.
I prefer faux because I don’t need to maintain it and if it starts looking old, I can just buy a new one to replace it.
6. Bright Summer Porch
If you’re looking for stunning summer front porch ideas, this is one you should consider recreating. Everything in this design is simply perfect. I love the bright flowers and the pillows especially because they grab your attention as soon as you approach.
This would be an amazing place to have breakfast with your significant other in the mornings and just relax.
7. Paint your Door
Spruce up your front entrance and change up the color of your door for summer. This is one summer project I would gladly partake in. When your door is bright, it immediately catches your guest’s attention and is such a fun way to welcome someone. You can easily change it up depending on the season and it’s only a one day job max.
A few of my favorite summer colors for the door are light blue, light green, yellow, red, and pink. If you want colors that are great all year round, go for black, white, and grey.
8. Window Plaque with Plants
I am a big fan of making use of the empty walls on your porch. It makes the space feel much more cozier and finished. You can hang up plants, lights, pictures, and a lot of other things that will make the space look amazing.
If you want to recreate the wall plants look above, you’ll need to buy a window wall plaque, pot holder rings, and plants.
9. Bright Citrus Theme
Lemon/citrus is THE theme for summer. It creates a super bright and fresh atmosphere and basically describes summer. Add a few yellow and green pillows along with a couple of faux lemon trees in planters to tie the look together.
10. Chandelier
Chandeliers are great if you want to add a little extra lighting and make the space feel more luxurious. Contrary to what some may think, you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars on a nice chandelier.
You can get them for less than $50 on Amazon which look insanely expensive and high quality.
11. Outdoor Fire Pit Table
Even though it’s summer, sometimes the weather can get finicky and start to get cool out of nowhere. Which is why having an outdoor fire pit is such a great idea. It adds to the decor and will keep you warm so you don’t have to go back inside.
12. Outdoor Dining
Most people like to just create a little seating area on their front porch but why not create a cute, little dining area instead. This would be the perfect area to enjoy your breakfast, eat your dinner while watching the sunset, and just hang out in general.
13. Add a Wreath
This summer front porch is just too beautiful, especially the door. Make your entrance more inviting and welcoming by hanging up a wreath. There are literally an endless amount of options to choose from.
You can pick the one you love most and something goes with the overall theme of your decor.
14. Small Front Porch
This front porch idea is proof that you can have a beautiful front porch even if you have the smallest space. Place a comfy chair, a small table, a few flowers, and some other decorations that brighten up the space.
Also, keep a pillow and a throw blanket to snuggle up in while watching the sunset.
15. Hanging Chairs
I love hanging chairs, they are literally so fun. If you have a smaller front porch, this idea is for you. It won’t take up any floor space and it will make the porch feel more open.
Just place a couple of pillows and blankets on the chair along with a a little side table with bright flowers.
16. Ceiling Fan
So, you want to go hang out on your porch but it’s just too hot outside? Simply install a ceiling fan outdoors, and the problem is solved.
If the weather starts to get too hot to handle, just turn the fan off and keep on sippin that cup of coffee while enjoying nature.
17. Add a Rug
Whether it’s indoors or outdoors, rugs can make the biggest difference in the appearance of a room. If your decorations for your porch have a theme then you’ll want to pick out a rug that goes along with that.
If your decorations are really bright and out there, I recommend you choose a rug that is neutral or softer so it’s not too in your face and harsh.
18. Outdoor Living Room
How insanely gorgeous does this outdoor living room look. If you’re looking for new summer front porch ideas, this one is one you should definitely recreate. Can’t you just imagine yourself out here on a gloomy summer day, reading a book with a cup of coffee in your hand?
That sounds like my kind of summer day.
19. Woven Baskets
One of my favorite summer front porch ideas is incorporating the use of woven baskets. I’m sure we’ve all used them at least once for storage, organization, or decor.
Place potted plants or flowers inside the baskets to add a pop of color to your entrance.
Woven baskets are also great for adding texture and a bit of that farmhouse style to your space. You can also add some pillows and throw blankets for additional warmth and texture.
20. Pops of Red
Some may be afraid to make use of the color red in their decor because it’s so out there but, that’s exactly what we want for summer.
Red will always be in style and will tie together with pretty much any space you’d like. You can decide whether you want the decor to be subtle or an attention grabber.
In regards to incorporating the color to your front porch, you can do something along the lines of the picture above. The flowers are certainly going to catch your eye and add a bit of drama but, it’s not too much and over the top.
21. Assortment of Flowers
If you want something that is a bit more light and airy, this porch idea is something you should consider. I love the use of the mini ladder in this idea to place vases of flowers. It’s giving me a very springtime vibe and I’m here for it!
22. Hang up a Sign
One of the simplest and minimal summer front porch ideas you can incorporate into any size space is hanging up a welcome sign. This instantly makes the home feel more inviting and cozy and I highly recommend you hang one up.
There are so many options to choose from. I typically look on Amazon for anything I need but, Etsy, Target, and Hobby Lobby all have great choices as well.
23. Bright Colors
Bright colors make any space feel cheery and inviting. If bright decor is not your thing, then you can decorate with neutrals and just place a really bright rug (like above) to tie everything together.
24. Simple Front Porch
Decorating with blue is great for every season of the year. It’s not too much and gives off a serene and peaceful vibe which I love!
There are many ways to incorporate blue into your summer decor. A few of my favorites are adding blue pillows, throw blankets, side tables, flowers, and decorative objects.
25. Garden Charm
I love this summer porch idea. All of the flowers on the porch kind of give off a garden vibe. They are all super bright and colorful which is what we want for summer.
The pillows, the rug, and the flowers all complement each other really well. This will definitely impress your guests as soon as they pull up in the driveway!
